The Major Incident Team (MIT) is currently supervised by Lieutenant Kyle Vickers and staffed with two full-time detectives, a School Resource Officer, a Field and Evidence Specialist, four Police Officers, and a Community Service Officer.

The principal role of the MIT is to conduct follow-up investigations on primarily felony cases that occur within our jurisdiction.  Members receive specialized training in a wide range of disciplines from crime scene processing and homicide investigation to narcotics trafficking and identity theft.  The Team also handles all sex, arson and narcotics registration and updates the Megan’s Law website. Unit staff participate in the School Attendance Review Board, the Elder Abuse Council, the Sexual Assault Response Committee, and the Multidisciplinary Interview Team.  The MIT works closely with allied law enforcement agencies in the region such as the Nevada and Placer County Sheriffs’ Offices, California Highway Patrol, and FBI to identify crime trends in the greater Truckee/Tahoe area.  Members have also forged working relationships with their counterparts in Northern Nevada such as Washoe County Sheriff, and Reno and Sparks police.

The Truckee Police Department Investigators recommends you maintain a list of your Valuable Property.  Properly documenting your valuables can help in case of loss due to theft or damage.  It is a good idea to add photos of each of your items and keep it in the same place as your property list.
